Rhythm N’ Roots is a joyful, adventurous and soulful choir– fearlessly singing powerful songs drawn from many diverse vocal traditions of the world. Rhythm n’ Roots has its beginnings in a small East Van choir called ‘EDNA’ that began in 2008 and enjoyed 5 years of fun, artistic growth and musical development. Fall 2013 will be Rhythm N Roots inaugural season and we are thrilled to be expanding into this new choral venture!
Rhythm N’ Roots is an auditioned community choir – we learn our music both by ear and from written scores and we sing in many languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Georgian, Yoruban etc). We are based in East Van and we sing from 7:30-9:30 on Wednesday evenings. Each term runs for 14 weeks between September and June and we perform at least twice a year.
Rhythm N’ Roots is for singers who want to move, groove, learn, grow and embody beautiful and inspiring songs and rhythms from around the world -oh yes, and have alot of fun doing it and be part of a delightful singing community!
