EarthSounds – Bowen Island World Music Choir

EarthSounds is starting our 2nd term on Bowen Island on Feb 9th! EarthSounds meets once a month and we learn beautiful music from around the world. Our repertoire will draw on vocal folk traditions of North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, South Africa and  many more… From Jubillee Gospel Quartets to Georgian lullabies to South African song and dance – we will stretch our voices in many directions, widen our knowledge of singing styles from around the world and deepen our understanding of where the music comes from. EarthSounds is a non-auditioned choir that is open to anyone who loves to sing.

We will meet at the beautiful Belterra Common House the second Thursday of the month  (one extra rehearsal in March and 1st week in June) from 7:00 pm -9:30 pm. We will gather 6 times this session. We will learn the music both from written scores and by ear – however you do not need to know how to read music! All that is needed is a readiness to learn, an openness to new sounds and languages and a love of singing together!

Dates for our first sessions are Feb 9th, Mar 9th, Mar 30th, April 13th, May 11th, June 1st.

Cost is $110 for the term. You will also receive access to practice tracks and music online.

We will perform in a shared concert on Sat June 10th at Cates Hill Chapel (with Harmony Mountain Singers) There would be an extra rehearsal either Friday June 9th or Sat June 10th in the morning.
